System Engineering
|
System Engineering is
complementing our consulting know-how. All
the technical resources underlying your SAP system are also part of our
solution portfolio. Our deep knowledge in enterprise class operating
system environments and database management systems gives us strong
competence on different platforms for providing better services.

Server Setup &
Configuration
No matter for
which system you have decided, we support you during on of the most
difficult tasks for a system administrator: the configuration phase!
Here we can assist you making important design decisions such as the
correct sizing of the system hardware, the layout of the network, the
way in which R/3 Basis components should be set up, how such procedures
as backing up should be organized, and so on: |

during hardware sizing and design
-
Server
installation and set-up, operating system and memory configuration
-
Decide on
the optimal configuration for the system
-
Make sure
that you can meet the hardware and software requirements specified
by SAP
-
Work out
how the software components must be distributed to disks
-
System

language settings, printing, etc.)
-
Cluster installation, configuration
and fail-over testing

Operating System
Management
Each platform
requires specific preparation and configuration activities to be ready
for a successful SAP installation. Here we have to follow strictly the
recommendations from SAP and these recommendations have to be applied on
Windows, UNIX and AS/400 systems.
Depending on
the release of R/3 or the mySAP.com component you have chosen, we have
to select the supported operating system and database management system
release which has currently the longest maintenance lifecycle. |

Database
Installation & Upgrades
Depending on which database management system needs to be
installed or upgraded, there are specific pre- or post-processing
configuration activities necessary on the server (DB server) and on the
client (application server) side.
Once the DBMS is installed or upgraded to a newer
release, it needs to be configured by assigning storage pools and
changing memory and system parameters to avoid errors situations and
bottlenecks in the database. |

|
System Migrations
If you have decided for newer hardware
technologies, your current SAP applications and databases need to be
migrated and adjusted to the new environment. Depending on the
technology you have decided for, there may be some requirements
concerning operating system and DBMS release level which needs to be
previewed already on the current environment before the migration can be
done. |
|

|
-
Prepare
the current system (OS, DBMS and application) for migration
-
Upgrade OS and database management
system
-
Install and configure target system
-
Optimize file-system, database layout
and resource management
-
Move SAP applications to the target
system
-
Perform migration post-processing
activities

System Programming
We can help you better and more efficient
manage your systems by creating scripts and procedures for daily and
monthly database- and system-backup, periodic system tasks (such as DB
reorganization, ORACLE table space and index management, cleanup
activities, etc.) interfaces and other operating system related tasks.
For example you may have your SAP system
running on Windows 2003 on a MSCS cluster environment with ORACLE as
DBMS, you may want to do fully automated offline full system backups.

Performance Tuning
& Optimizations
Are you satisfied with the performance of
your SAP system? If not, the improvement can often not be found in
simply changing one system parameter. It is the overall system (CPU,
memory, I/O performance, system configuration and parameters, workload-
and instance-distribution) that needs to be analyzed with respect to
your current workload during normal operation and peek hours as well.
Our experience from more than
100 projects
on different hardware, operating system and database combinations in
large, midsized and small environments can help you finding a way to
improve the overall performance of your system. |

and journaling)
-
